Petition to Invalidate Proposition 8

A coalition of gay rights groups have filed a petition to overturn California’s Proposition 8. The gist of the argument is that Proposition 8 revises the California Constitution rather than amends it. Petition here.

Update: The City of San Francisco has filed its own petition.

This just shows that America has not grown out of its segregation mindset….

    Gays are the NEW BLACKS.

I can’t stand locational politics. It doesn’t matter that the cause may or may not be righteous – the instant I read “San Francisco,” I stopped caring. Maybe it’s because they’re following the predictable or, dare I say, stereotypical course – maybe not. All I know is they’ve trivialized the issue.

On Sept. 11, 1857, Mormon militiamen led the slaughter of 120 men, women and children on a wagon train bound for California in an incident known as the Mountain Meadows Massacre.
So these are the people who want to “preserve marriage and family values” They slaughter women, children and unarmed innocent men on Sept 11 1857. If you don’t believe it could be true, just google it.
poliitcs and church are illegal, petition IRS to remove their 501c3 non profit status now!

  5. Perhaps that incident did happen, however, I hardly think we can hold the Mormons of today responsible for how early Mormons may have behaved in 1857. Lets look back at your (and my) ancestors behavior in 1857. I doubt either of us would be tremendously proud.

On the other hand, I think that allowing a huge corporation like the Mormon (or any other) church 501(c)(3) status is just plain wrong.

According to http://jointheimpact.com/ there will be a nation-wide protest against Prop 8 at city halls in all 50 states, Saturday the 15th, at 1:30 PM Eastern (10:30 AM Pacific). So if you don’t live in California, but you wanted to make your voice heard against Prop 8, here is a chance to join with others across the US to do that.

Personally I think marriage is an archaic institution so I don’t even understand why anyone would fight for the right to do something so stupid. Still I am not going to impose my views on anyone else. Furthermore I think that if gay people choose to be as miserable as the rest of us they should be allowed to!

This issue is about intolerance, this issue is about religious fanatics trying to impose their god onto the rest of the population who doesn’t share their beliefs. This issue is about discrimination against a group that doesn’t do any harm to anyone but contributes to the society in many ways as they are smart, talented, beautiful, and sensitive…their ‘sin’ is that they’re wired to be attracted to people of their own sex.

My name is Angelica, I live in Raleigh, NC and I support gay people. I am also in favor of anything that will ensure that the law guarantees the same freedom and rights to every person regardless of their race, religion, or sex.

In all civilizations of all epochs marriage had and has the function to govern the ontological diversity between man and woman and to give a stable environment to children, even in late Roman Empire epoch when same sex was prestigious and involved substantially all upper class males. Changing the significance of marriage means changing marriage. Means transforming protection of those who need protection into rights for others who in real life don’t need that specific protection.

  9. Agapo says:

REAL BLACKS supported Family. Upper midle class MAINSTREAM WHITES try to invalidate a democratic decision, hyding themselves as victims.
