The “Show Me, but Don’t Touch Me” State?

Ed Emery, a Republican state legislator is trying to ban lap dances in Missouri.

The bill he proposed would not only ban lap dances, but would make it illegal for a cocktail waitress to shake your hand.

No employee who appears in a semi-nude condition in a sexually oriented business shall knowingly or intentionally touch a patron or the clothing of a patron in a sexually orientated business. (source)

Interestingly enough, Mr. Emery’s website contains the following statement:

He knows that our communities will grow and flourish when the farmer and small businessperson are free to operate without unreasonable restrictions. (source)

He also seems to be an ardent supporter of Second Amendment rights.

So get this straight kids, no unreasonable restrictions on businesses unless they are Adult Entertainment establishments. No trampling the Second Amendment, but the First Amendment is just liberal crap.

Did you know that in St. Louis you still can’t sell alcohol on sundays? Despite that, and the occasional unfortunate oppressive use of “community values” it really is a lovely city.

    St. Louis lovely?

Did they clean up the north side? I looks like a warzone.

Is the town any less racist? White flight didn’t end in St. Louis until about 6yrs ago. It didn’t end because the people are more tolerant. It ended because the commutes to work were getting to be over an hour and a half.

Is it any less hypocritical? Just across the river, East St. Louis and the surrounding areas are some of the poorest; if not in the nation at least in Missouri and Illinois. And while Missouri and St. Louis continue to fight against Gentleman’s clubs, right across the river reside some of the countries top strip clubs. Not to mention the proliferation of whore houses just down the road from Sauget, IL.

Is that what you mean by “lovely” city?
