“Some Issues Are Bigger than the Constitution”

So says Jackson, Mississippi mayor Frank Melton when dealing with the earth-shattering issue of saggy pants.

The Jackson City Council considered an ordinance that would make it unlawful for citizens to wear hip-hop style saggy pants. However, in what may be a first, the City Council sought a lawyer’s opinion as to whether the ordinance would be rendered unconstitutional. The lawyer said it would be unconstitutional, so the City Council rejected the measure.

But Mayor Frank Melton, who joined the council meeting via telephone from Texas, said he will issue an executive order instituting the dress code.

“I certainly respect the Constitution,” Melton said, “but we have some issues that are much bigger than the Constitution.” (source)

Name one.

And quite frankly, if you can name one issue bigger than the Constitution, I hardly think that one thing should be droopy pants.
