In an effort to bridge a $9 billion budget gap and be more like California, New York legislators want to legalize medical marijuana in order to realize $15 million in licensing fees. Though still subject to senate approval, the plan’s projected revenues have been included in the state’s 2010-11 budget. This proposal is intended as part of a larger, $136.2 billion package of spending cuts and new taxes — though not including new taxes on soda and cigarettes, which the legislature previously considered.

That would probably have the real population drawing effect. Not just those who get a script but all potheads everywhere.
in my opinion the U.S.A is making excuseslosing and losing alot of money by not legalising marijuana. its a harmless plant. in the other hand we got cigarettes and alcohol billion dollars companys thear product is legal but yet kills alot of people every year thears no damage worst than dead. Reagen made it illegal because apparently pot makes people crazy and do harmful things like rape and murder…which is a LIE!!!!! There is no recorded deaths because of pot in history….not even a domestic disputer….but yet how many domestic disputes are there because of alcohol

Marijuana is no worse for your lungs, as a substance. It is worse for your lungs because it is usually inhaled without any filtration of any kind.
not at all ciggarettes have over 2300 cancer causing chemicals like rocket fuel, carbon monoxide, arsenic and a shit load of other shit that are only from the perservatives that the companies use the tobbacco plant by itself is harmless to a point but they screw with shit but weed is not legal so therfore they probably dont use perservatives so if they legalize pot u would probably get .6 for a gram and so on so either way the goverment will fuck u over and win count on it to
i really dont understand why its such a big debate to legalize weed it has less shit to fuck u up then alcohol ciggarettes and all and not to mention the finacial and population booste that ny would take in im guessing in under a couple years from the legalization date.. anyone no the current position ny is in whether to legalize or not??
It is pure nonsense to keep the harmless marijuana plant illegal. It does not cause cancer, it does not kill brain cells, the only bad thing that i see is the munchies. If you do legalize it crime will go down, and ny will get more tax money. And people will be happy :)
