Live Free or Die! I love the 603

The Super Secret Project - Proud Product of the 603 and possibly the greatest musical act to come out of New England since the Modern Lovers

New Hampshire is the safest place to run a porn company. Its State Supreme Court ruled in New Hampshire v. Theriault that applying the prostitution laws to erotic film production was not only a misapplication of the prostitution laws, but it was a violation of the New Hampshire Constitution’s free speech provisions. Meanwhile, a newly-elected state rep in New Hampshire openly advocated in favor of eugenics. (source)

Barrington Republican Martin Harty told Sharon Omand, a Strafford resident who manages a community mental health program, that “the world is too populated” and there are “too many defective people,” according to an e-mail account of the conversation by Omand.

I don’t entirely oppose the theory of a eugenics program, as noted here. However, I think that forced sterilization should only occur after the sterlizee has had due process. Rep. Harty took that idea all the way across the goal line, scoring a batshit crazy touchdown with a two-point conversion.

Asked what he meant, she said Harty clarified, “You know the mentally ill, the retarded, people with physical disabilities and drug addictions – the defective people society would be better off without.”

I think that Mr. Harty is one of the “defective people society would be better off without.” I’m all in favor for forced sterilization of the stupid, after a fair trial, but the suggestion that we’d be “better off” without the disabled or the drug-addicted is just horrifying — even if it comes from a senile old prick.

Hot on the heels of Harty’s stain on the 603’s reputation, a group of New Hampshire lawmakers redeemed the old man in the mountain by proposing that TSA agents should be arrested, charged with sexual assault, and forced to register as sex offenders. (source)

The bill (HB628-FN) “makes the touching or viewing with a technological device of a person’s breasts or genitals by a government security agent without probable cause a sexual assault,” according to the introductory text of the bill.

“Let’s put their name on the sex offender registry, and maybe that will tell them New Hampshire means business,” said bill co-sponsor Rep. Andrew Manuse, R-Derry. (source)

I think there might be some supremacy clause issues there, but the legislators have their hearts in the right place. Now if only they could get Harty as a co-sponsor, so they could enact a eugenics program to wipe out anyone dipshitted enough that they work for the TSA, New Hampshire might start our country moving in the right direction.
